What are some nice places to visit in western Germany?
I live in Holland near the German border, and would like some suggestions for a day or weekend trips in Germany, - The historic cities and towns, beautiful scenery, etc. Any suggestions welcome!
One of the great cities to be visited is called Rothenburg ob der Tauber - is a historic city in times mideval truly trapped. They have the old fortress walls, pavers - all they could ask for. Http: / / www.rothenburg.de/index.php?get=121 who lived near the city of Bremen is - have a great center of the small town called Schnoor .. helmet old, where sea captains used to live. Bremen also has the highest old wine cellar in Europe and offering guided tours. But I'm sure living in the Netherlands you can read enough to understand what it says;) For another trip, I'd recommend Bremerhaven - is the port city of Bremen, about an hour north of the coast. They have a big boat museum gives you a fun in the old ways that trade was made along the North Sea. For a trip longer, try the Harz mountains - the mountains just south of Hanover. You can visit the old mines, museums, tour a historic steam train, visit the ancient city of Goslar and - a bonus - go skiing in the winter. I'm sure there are more historic sites further south, but I'd rather just talk about the people I know to be fun from personal experience. Oh, and advice: Most of these (except in the Harz) are much more fun to do in the spring / summer, as they involve walking and sightseeing. Harz ago for holiday a great little winter.
