San Diego?
I am planning on attending UC San Diego next year, and wondered how it feels. San Diego Anyone here? I some questions! Is the city a good place to raise a family? Crime rate, good or bad? What is the most affordable housing in or around San Diego? I heard that live in Escondido, it may be cheaper than in town. Is this true? What can be done recreationally? (besides the beach:)) Thanks beforehand!
San Diego is a great city. I am a fourth year at UCSD, but have lived in San Diego, all my life. The place for affordable living and be closer to campus would probably be either in Mira Mesa or Clairemont area. Those areas have very little traffic coming / going to the campus. Escondido is probably a little more affordable, however there are a lot of traffic coming / going. I have found in San Diego to be a good place for families because it has a lot of activities and places to visit. Of course everyone loves the beaches, but there are plenty of other things to do. I love going to Petco Park during the baseball season. You not be a baseball fan to enjoy it. There are also Gaslamp Quarter and Seaport Village are great places to walk. Torrey Pines State Park is also a good place for hiking. The mountains are only an hour away. It's always good to drive up to Julian and buy some apple pies! Not to mention, the desert is also only an hour or two away! I'm sure you have a great first year!
